A.SHIMUS begins with the proportions of petite women — not standard sizing scaled down from taller frames. Our designs are developed from the Japanese 9AR size standard, approximately equivalent to our size Small, and graded from XS to L.

Designed with our core customer around 5'4" and under in mind, individual pieces can be worn by women approximately 148–173 cm, depending on proportions and styling.

Balance, Not Shortening

Every length, waist placement, and silhouette is considered in relation to a smaller frame — not simply shortened, but built from the start to create balance.

Sleeve lengths are designed to complement petite proportions without excessive fabric or constant alterations. Body lengths are considered too: many of our tops are designed to be worn untucked, for a clean, effortless line.

Higher waist placements help create the appearance of longer legs while keeping proportions balanced.

Waist-focused tailoring creates shape and definition, while adjustable waistbands, elastic details, and belts allow flexibility throughout the day. Pencil, A-line, and softly flared silhouettes stay polished and feminine without sacrificing ease of movement.

Our signature Japanese tweeds are chosen as much for how they feel as for their craftsmanship. Soft, lightweight construction lets jackets follow your natural frame rather than overwhelm it — flattering, and comfortable all day.
